Welcome to Jessette’s illustration gallery.

Since I was a little girl, my little hands would always take joy in filling up colors on a coloring book. I still do.

Somewhere along the way, I learned to draw figures and things.

I love to draw women, flowing lines and fashion illustration. I’m a fan of Alphonse Mucha’s works in the Art Noveau style.

It all started with crayons.

Every Christmas tree has its own unique charm that reflects the characteristic of the people who took the time to lovingly and joyfully decorate these trees. It’s the sheer enjoyment of decorating this symbolic tree that has inspired me to create this concept for Forecepts’ 2009 Christmas eCard. I have worked on the illustrations for all the elements; the trees, baubles, socks, candy cane and the gifts at the bottom of the box.

    Tandberg

    MEDIUM: pen on watercolour paper

INSIGHT: Tandberg is a company in the telepresence and video conferencing industry. They approached our team to create a flash invite for the opening and launching of their new office. The event will feature four “experiences” which I happily illustrated for them: champagne tasting, palm reading, magic and harp for symphony. These event will simultaneously take place in Hong Kong and guests will have the chance to experience these through high-definition, real-time videos.

    Ministry of Transport Singapore

    MEDIUM: watercolour on watercolour paper

INSIGHT: The Ministry of Transport Singapore wants us to design a “generic” corporate greeting card for last year’s (2009) Holiday Season. My solution is to illustrate four transportation vehicles that represent the Ministry. The drawing was executed in a whimsical fashion and some curves and lines were added to communicate a festive atmosphere.

    Fashion Illustration (An Attempt)

    MEDIUM: pen on paper

INSIGHT: I was smitten by the first time I laid my eyes on the works of fashion illustrator, Ruben Toledo, it was like love at first sight. His illustrations have inspired me to take up a short course in fashion illustration. Here are sample of my humble attempt at this art form. I still have a long way to go.

    Pink Castle

MEDIUM: digital, created on Adobe Photoshop

INSIGHT: I saw a photo of this wonderful castle from the internet. I challenged myself and tried to create a digital illustration and interpretation of that castle by using only Adobe Photoshop. Some of the textures was created using its default filters, while other textures was created from scratch.

    Don’t!

MEDIUM: Mixed media:pen & ink, poster colour

INSIGHT: This is an exercise on using hatching techniques in detailing for pen & ink medium. I’m very patient with details.

    Adidas Hurricane

    MEDIUM: Coloured Pencil on Paper

INSIGHT: I was able to unearth this classic Hurricane Adidas model shoe from a small city near my hometown. It’s quite a collector’s item because I was able to buy this piece in early 2000 and the shoe was actually manufactured in the 1980’s. So there, I thought that it would be good to immortalize my favorite sneakers by illustrating this still life subject.

  • MEDIUM: Coloured Pencil on Paper

    The Harpist

    MEDIUM: Coloured Pencil on Paper

INSIGHT: Loreena McKennit is one of my musical muses. I love how she makes music with her harp. Maybe this drawing is inspired by her, or I’m listening to her music while I worked on this drawing. I really can’t remember, all I know is I am fascinated with the woman and the harp.

    The Little Prince

MEDIUM: Mixed Media: watercolour and coloured pencil

INSIGHT: This book is one of my favourite piece of literature, so I thought that it would be fun to try and create my own design for the book cover.

  • MEDIUM: Mixed Media: black pen and coloured pencils

    Crayosa

MEDIUM: Mixed Media: black pen and coloured pencils

INSIGHT: This is my initial concept for crayonslife.com’s design. I originally planned to create this character, Crayosa as the Crayon Princess, a crayon fairy who guards all the magical crayons in her kingdom. Hopefully, I’ll be able to resurrect this idea in another form, maybe an illustrated book or a series of drawings.

    4 Asian City Girls

MEDIUM: Digital, vector art created using Adobe Illustrator

INSIGHT: Forecepts’ regular client, CTC, a major travel agency in Singapore asked us to illustrate 4 women that will represent their package tour offerings for these four Asian Cities: Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok. My visual solution is to illustrate these women garbed in feminine clothes with patterns representing their respective city.

    Cynthia Alexander

    MEDIUM: Watercolour on watercolour paper

INSIGHT: One of my creative muses, Ms. Cynthia Alexander is a Filipina ethnic rock musician and artist. This work was inspired by Milton Glaser’s illustration of Bob Dylan. I have used the hair as an element to highlight each title of Cynthia Alexander’s music album.

    Aaron

    MEDIUM: watercolour on watercolour paper

INSIGHT: I have copied this portrait of my fiancé, Aaron, from one of my favorite photos that I took of him. This was my birthday present to him last year.
