Welcome to Jessette’s illustration gallery.

Since I was a little girl, my little hands would always take joy in filling up colors on a coloring book. I still do.

Somewhere along the way, I learned to draw figures and things.

I love to draw women, flowing lines and fashion illustration. I’m a fan of Alphonse Mucha’s works in the Art Noveau style.

It all started with crayons.

  • Crayosa's Snowy Sailing

    Crayosa’s Snowy Sailing

    medium: Watercolour on Paper

I used this as my entry to Smashing Magazine’s monthly wallpaper design. I wanted to create a “winter” theme for Crayosa, my muse for Crayonslife.
For those of you who are not familiar with my website, Crayosa is the girl you’ll find sailing in my homepage, aboard the stacks of floating crayons.

  • MEDIUM: Watercolour on Paper

Southeast Asian Chest and Ceremonial Jar

    MEDIUM: Watercolour on Paper

INSIGHT: Concepts of spirituality and celebration have been attached to these pieces. Drawing from these still life figures give me a sense of connection to the concepts encapsulated within these inanimate objects.

Maybe some objects do carry a piece of history engraved within its form.

  • Hahoe Dance Mask from Korea

    Hahoe Dance Mask from Korea

    MEDIUM: Watercolour on Paper

INSIGHT: A client asked me to create watercolour illustrations depicting Asian elements to add interest to their website. Their office holds some interesting trinkets and ceremonial pieces.

  • Forecepts 2011 Chinese New Year Postcard

Forecepts 2011 Chinese New Year Postcard

MEDIUM: Electronic Art using Adobe Illustrator

INSIGHT:Our marketing team decided to send out postcards instead of the usual eCards that we usually send to our clients on most occasions. This postcard design is a direct adaptation from our “gingerhouse” Christmas eCard design. Vibrant hues and shades of orange have been used to signify the festive season of the Chinese Lunar New Year. Chinese lanterns are hanged from the house. To highlight the Year of The Rabbit, some trivias about these cute creatures are written at the window area and two white smiling rabbits are shown standing at the front. Carrots are added and scattered at the ground to add accent to the design.

  • Forecepts 2010 Animated Christmas eCard

    Forecepts 2010 Animated Christmas eCard

MEDIUM: Electronic Art using Adobe Illustrator

INSIGHT:The ginger house bread is the main inspiration for our Christmas eCard last year of 2010. I wanted to stick to this fun and quirky theme that I started last year (Christmas 2009). Cute little birds have been animated, flying with those Christmas ornaments. The window would eventually open to reveal a moving choo-choo train and some Christmas greetings. The Christmas tree at the left and some parts of the clouds are also animated.

  • Coffee Story for Etre Bon Gallery and Academy

    Coffee Story for Etre Bon

    MEDIUM: watercolour

INSIGHT: A simple illustration of the “story of coffee”, focusing on the idea, from “crop” to “cup” and the processes involved in-between. This illustration is one of the key points that led our team to win this pitch web design project for Etre Bon Gallery and Academy.

  • Tandberg

    Tandberg

    MEDIUM: pen on watercolour paper

INSIGHT: Tandberg is a company in the telepresence and video conferencing industry. They approached our team to create a flash invite for the opening and launching of their new office. The event will feature four “experiences” which I happily illustrated for them: champagne tasting, palm reading, magic and harp for symphony. These event will simultaneously take place in Hong Kong and guests will have the chance to experience these through high-definition, real-time videos.

  • Ministry of Transport Singapore

    Ministry of Transport Singapore

    MEDIUM: watercolour on watercolour paper

INSIGHT: The Ministry of Transport Singapore wants us to design a “generic” corporate greeting card for last year’s (2009) Holiday Season. My solution is to illustrate four transportation vehicles that represent the Ministry. The drawing was executed in a whimsical fashion and some curves and lines were added to communicate a festive atmosphere.

  • Fashion Illustration (An Attempt)

    Fashion Illustration (An Attempt)

    MEDIUM: pen on paper

INSIGHT: I was smitten by the first time I laid my eyes on the works of fashion illustrator, Ruben Toledo, it was like love at first sight. His illustrations have inspired me to take up a short course in fashion illustration. Here are sample of my humble attempt at this art form. I still have a long way to go.

  • Pink Castle

    Pink Castle

MEDIUM: digital, created on Adobe Photoshop

  • Adidas Hurricane

    Adidas Hurricane

    MEDIUM: Coloured Pencil on Paper

INSIGHT: I was able to unearth this classic Hurricane Adidas model shoe from a small city near my hometown. It’s quite a collector’s item because I was able to buy this piece in early 2000 and the shoe was actually manufactured in the 1980′s. So there, I thought that it would be good to immortalize my favorite sneakers by illustrating this still life subject.

  • The Little Prince

    The Little Prince

MEDIUM: Mixed Media: watercolour and coloured pencil

INSIGHT: This book is one of my favourite piece of literature, so I thought that it would be fun to try and create my own design for the book cover.

  • Crayosa, The Crayon Princess

    Crayosa

MEDIUM: Mixed Media: black pen and coloured pencils

INSIGHT: This is my initial concept for crayonslife.com’s design. I originally planned to create this character, Crayosa as the Crayon Princess, a crayon fairy who guards all the magical crayons in her kingdom. Hopefully, I’ll be able to resurrect this idea in another form, maybe an illustrated book or a series of drawings.

INSIGHT: Forecepts’ regular client, CTC, a major travel agency in Singapore asked us to illustrate 4 women that will represent their package tour offerings for these four Asian Cities: Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok.
